I took this through the window of my friend Judith’s house on Monday. She lives just a little further along the shore, and her property also backs onto the lake. It was a chilly day with a steady rain, which makes for a rather featureless sky for Skywatch, but it’s a good background for the delicate tracery of branches. Judith made ginger tea by slicing real ginger root into a glass mug and letting it steep in hot water. We curled up in comfy chairs with throws over our laps, and watched the rain while we visited. It was a perfect afternoon.

I love nature's monochromatic moments. Beautiful. When our skies our like this, a stillness seems to embrace the world and there is perfect peace.
I like this scene very much--perfect for visiting or curling up with a good book.
Mysterious, beautiful and gorgeous! Thanks, Deborah!
I love the monochromatic look on those photos! Beautiful indeed!
Cheers,
Yen See yah!
It looks like stencil. Great capture!
The branch hanging over the water is really beautiful. Mmmmmm I smell hte ginger tea.
Hi Deborah, this is such a pretty but stark picture.
I like these cold rainy winter afternoons. I often catch myself thinking about when I lived further north and it would be snow falling.
Happy SkyWatching.
..
sounds like a perfect day, hot herbal tea, lap throws, a lovely view out the window and a friend to visit with.
looks mystical and beautiful
That is a beautiful and striking photograph. I love your word picture of your time with your friend - those times are special and precious.
That sort of sky oozes into ones brain. It's impossible to escape, in the same way that a perfectly blue one is. It's a mood setter.
i like the starkness of this shot.
thanks for sharing.
I love the look of these pictures. They are mysterious and dramatic.
gorgeous photos, the monochrome suits the season so perfectly...
I've never really liked pewter, but you are right about the colour and its background for the delicacy of November branches.
Happy Skywatching.
Love the mood and beauty you captured in this moment!
Deborah: A look at our skies all week it seemed and now we have glorious sunshine.
Curling up and sipping ginger tea sounds like a perfect way to wile away the dark and gloomy hours. Of course the scenery ain't so bad either.
I love a pewter sky! Drama and mystery.
Oh, the beautiful starkness of a cold winter day.

these are such gorgeous photos, some gloomy days are quite beautiful.
other perfect treats for leaden grey days:
hot cocoa made from scratch ( we make it so thick and rich sometimes we just drink a small espresso sized cupful )
black tea served with gingerbread men
hot sake
fresh baked bread or Apple cake
Hot Apple Cider
I love cold weather and so have a very long list... I could go on...
oh your seagull comment was hysterical--on spot on too!!!
jigsaw puzzles are good for days when there's a N'oreaster here.
It is peace in Mumbai at last.
Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes.
Pray for all those who lost their lives and may God give strength to their near and dear ones to bear their irreparable loss.
Leaden skies have a beauty all their own. Life needs a pause for reflection when all is hushed and a little introspection can prevail.
I actually like rainy/snowy days or days which threaten to do so. The lake must look so different nearly each hour! The hot mug, blanket and a friend to chat with... doesn't get much better.
Beautiful, I too would have curled up with a mug in my hand.
Very beautiful- and perfect for your cozy visit with a friend! The ginger tea sounds good too!
