WATERY WEDNESDAY - "Thanks for reminding me"! (Lake Erie)

Just yesterday, I posted here about how we still hadn't had any snow this season, and showed two photos of the same view of the lake, taken a year (359 days actually) apart. And guess what I woke up to this morning?! It's as if Mother Nature is reading my blog (gosh, wouldn't that be flattering!) and said, "Oh my goodness, I quite forgot to send snow to Point Pelee this winter. Better go slap some down there right away!"

Here is the same view, almost identical to last year's, minus a few gulls. You can see the rolling waves of "slurpy" ice starting to collect at the shore - always the prelude to freezing up. (click to enlarge)

This is fun! I enjoy season to season shows. Looks like we are having a snow show throughout the Northeast.

Stay warm. But do keep taking those great shots...

That is WILD! Snow and ice on water. Oh man - I love it! We were so excited to have snow in New Orleans just a few days ago. I can't imagine it over waves. Cool!

Wow, great photo for Watery Wednesday. All I can say about all that snow and ice is: better you than me. We're just not equipt for it.

You are getting it and all the icy water ornaments to go with. It's a little too ironic to be coincidence. I'm sure Mother Nature is a very literate lady. Who knows!

I'll always think it's interesting to see snow so close to the water like that... and then I'm reminded of Alaska and think duh! It's amazing how different the photos are with the snow.

Hi...I popped over to your site from Lin's. Especially when you said you were homesick for the cowboy hats of Alberta. Yah, a fellow Albertan (although I must admit, I'm not smitten by cowboy hats, but they sure are popular around here).

Enjoyed browsing your site and will visit again.

Nice pictures!

This reminds me one of the stories behind Kathleen Edwards song "Oh Canada!" (not to be confused with "O Canada", the national anthem). There's a line that goes "...but you act so surprised when the snow don't come..." which is about the climate change/global warming issue. Well it seems that just about the time that song was released Eastern Canada got pounded with a blizzard of legendary proportion.

So Mother Nature not only reads cool blogs, she's got great taste in music too!

Beautiful! That water looks very chilly! I will have to post some pictures of the birds that we saw Belize! We went mist-netting a couple mornings and caught quite a few different birds. I think my favorite birds that we saw were the Keel-billed Toucan and the Emerald Toucanet. The professor that went with us is an ornithologist so we saw our fair share of birds :)

Still looks like a woman with a head scarf on and her back to me...also looks just a tad bit more peaceful than the other two.

Hi!
We had about 2 inches of snow yesterday and a freezing misty rain. The roads were very slick, I know, I was driving on them to get home from work yesterday evening. Thanks for stopping by my place.

It started snowing here this morning too in northwestern WA State and it hasn't let up yet. I think Winter has us in its paws.

Interesting about how ice has its larval stage. Best slurpies anywhere are 7-11.

Really, what a coincidence!

Funny..I have problems leaving comments at some blogs too and it is frustrating...Our dear old Lake Erie needs to freeze so that we don't keep getting lake effect snow here in western NY...
