The Earth does seem to be leaning away today! It is a very gray day here, almost surreal!

Our earth is the closest it can be to the sun and yet to us int he northern hemisphere the warm touch feels so cold! I am shivering looking at this picture. Very nice.

Oh yes, Deborah, just perfect! I love the image of the earth "leaning away." Beautiful photograph -- is this your yard?

@ SUE No, mine is not nearly so pretty, in any season! This is my friend's yard in Calgary. She took the photo on her phone, I believe.

Beautiful picture, Deborah. Can't believe that winter is just beginning officially.. Does that mean that the last month of winter will be spring-like????? ha... We can hope, can't we?
Hugs,
Betsy

The pictures from your yard (the trees and the lake shots posted previously) are lovely in their own way.

Why does snow always make me feel so peaceful? It's as if the image alone makes the rest of the world feel muffled, silent and soft. I like the image of the sun turning a cold shoulder.

This is perfect.

Sorry you are having winter gloom. Me too, I'm afraid. Yesterday I just wanted to cry all day for no particular reason. Just too much gray skies and white ground and too much cold. Looking at your shadow photo below, the lake looks SOOOO cold and forbidding. We had a touch of sunshine this afternoon which lifted my spirits a touch. Hope you get some too.

The leaning is a perfect choice of a word for this image. Hey, that looks like out here!

Hi Deborah, you'd think we would be warming up after that shortest day is over.
I hope you stayed warm that day and then had a Merry Christmas. I'll wish your remaining holiday is 'bright.'
..
I like your picture, it sets the mode very well for me.
