SKYWATCH FRIDAY – Alchemy (Lake Erie)

As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, the dull gray fog that had lingered all day suddenly turned to gold as the sun broke through. Higher up, some clouds are visible, while below the fog bank remains. In the second shot, you can see not only the reflected blaze in the foreground, but the fainter gleam beyond the ridge of ice.

Really lovely shots, Deb. That's what I love about shooting the sky -- you can get totally different shots within minutes of each other...

great photos, sunlight and fogs and winter make an interesting combination more so that clear days and no clouds like we have right now and 45 degrees but I'm not complaining.

Looks like that slender branch is keeping the sun from rising in that bottom photo. Great stuff, Deb.

No matter how dismal or dark the day might be, just that break through at the end of the day creates a feeling of jubilant optimism, especially at this time of year. Lovely photos.

the skies are endlessly fascinating.

today: a grey chill morning, and then we had sun and snow simultaneously today 9am going to post a pic later, but it doesn't show it) the sun won out and it got warm, then by 3 it was blue skies... amazing how one 6 hour period can hold so much! the skies are never boring.

before I forget , do you know anything about the weird depths of Lake Erie? Someone told me that there are "bermuda triangle" type triangles in the lake.

Beautiful but I'm sure very cold standing there. I live near Lake Ontario which offers me great photo opportunities. Happy SWF!
