SKYWATCH FRIDAY – Winter's Will-o’-the-Wisp (Lake Erie)

This isn’t a speck of faerie fire. That phenomenon is usually seen of a summer’s eve, and this is the dead of winter. It’s actually the lights of an ATV or a snowmobile as ice fishers head home after a long day on the lake, but watching it glide slowly across the horizon against the fading dusk, it was easy to imagine it was not of this realm.

So pretty!! I love how you were able to catpure all of the vivid colors of the sky and how it contrasted so nicely with the snow.

A little speck of light on the horizon changes the entire character of a photo doesn't it? Without it, you still have a beautiful, serene scene but that one tiny addition gives a whole new dimension.

I got a similar shot of a lighthouse in the distance at dawn one morning. I think it was in a Wordless Wednesday back in October or November.

Wonderful offering!

I prefer to think of the light as faerie fire. It fits the mood of the scene so much better. It's breathtaking. And it creates a feeling in me which lends power to it.

Great eye!

I did enlarge and it is so pretty. This would make a fine paintinng and I can see how your imagination would just follow that spark.

Wonderful colors. I like the silhouette of the tree. And the light adds a nice little touch to it.

Lovely colors, though I like the idea of fairy lights much better than prosaic reality.
