@ Kat and Amias - those are river rocks I collected in High Country (Alberta foothills). When I moved from there, I put them on an old tree stump in the yard, took this photo, and left them there for the new owners.
One of these days, I am going to go back and look at all your OSI's...I think you had been doing them a while when I first started visiting you regularly. You have posted some great ones...
Hi Deb, Love the river rocks --all in the shape of hearts. SO neat!!! Enjoyed reading what you said about leaving them for the new owners. So Special!!!!!
I think it is amazing you found that many heart-shaped stones...I love them and I am sure the new owners of the home will be grateful you left them and wonder where they were found as they enjoy them.
I love this photo. I collect heart shaped rocks myself. I have to constantly remind my husband that he'll be making all of his own meals if he doesn't curb his overwhelming desire to toss them in the creek... He thinks they're silly. I think they're grand. Little love notes from heaven.
I hope I can be as generous of heart when and if we ever leave the Hollow. It was a gracious and tender gesture to leave them behind for the new owners.
Learned something new, have forgotten about the equinox since school. Loved the poem and the photo a visual treat. I'd love to be able to reach into my computer screen and feel them.
Hi Deborah, that one heart/recurring dream could be good or bad. I've had both kinds of those dreams. They have stopped, very suddenly. Based on seeing Jay vs. Cat, I am betting on Jay every time against the squirrel. And I'm working on 'smoke' for next week, thank you. ..
Beautiful words and photo. It is so funny as just the other day I finished reading a novel where the main character and her grandmother collected heart-shaped rocks too. I will be on the lookout from now on.
The Cloud Messenger (Meghadūta) is a lyric poem by the respected Indian poet, Kālidāsa. The poem centers around a yaksa in exile. Longing for his beloved, waiting for him on a Himalayan mountain, he asks a cloud to take a message to her. The sights he tells the cloud it will see on its way make up most of the poem.
The idea of recording observations appeals to me. I thought The Cloud Messenger was the perfect title for a blog about the journey that we all make as we move through our days.
I'm a baby boomer who grew up dancing in the streets of Detroit during the classic Motown years, lived beside the Rocky Mountains for many years, now retired and living (and writing full time) in S. Ontario. I have one blog for rock 'n' roll oldies, and one for nature, poetry and life along the Lake.

I love this and I really love the photograph! Did you collect the rocks and place them yourself?

Those rocks are beautiful. What kind of platform are they on, look like coral?
That must be some dream ...!

Thank you--beautiful words and photos.
We collect heart rocks and shells here in my house too--they always make me smile!
Love the poem, and love your stony hearts. What a nice gesture, to leave them for the new owners.

Your heart rocks are quite fitting to how I feel about the longer days!! I can't believe what a great collection of them you have!

Love the way you ally humanity with the solstices in this.
A heart-full poem, Deborah.

So true. Somehow, the images of the stones make me think how tender that heart is!
Deb, this pretty 'nigh a brilliant tanka. Wonderful.
Only the very secret places of the heart can whisper these dreams.
