I have a special place in my heart for Burma. I've never been there, but years ago I saw a movie called "Beyond Rangoon" starring Patricia Arquette, and was captured by the land, the people, and the struggle they are in to save their country. I know some of you are already on the Avaaz.org mailing list, but for those of you who aren't, if you would like a simple way to sign in and make your voice heard, I'm posting a link to their most recent petition call.
From Avaaz:
Free Burma's pro democracy prisoners!
Aung San Suu Kyi (photo) is still under house arrest, and 2,000 pro-democracy monks and activists are being held in inhumane conditions in Burmese prisons. Their crime: peacefully calling for democracy.
CLICK HERE to go to the Avaaz website and sign the petition, or click on the icon in the upper margin.
The petition reads:
To: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon: The military government must immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Khun Tun Oo and Min Ko Naing. The release of all political prisoners is the first and most important step towards freedom and democracy in Burma. We, the undersigned, call upon UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to make it his personal priority to secure the release of all of Burma's political prisoners by the SPDC.

I've signed the petition and will put their label back on my blog, I managed to lose at some point. Thanks for all you do. You might want to check out my latest post about honoring diversity.
I got this one today too. I signed the petition, and passed it on to others. Avaaz does great work.
