SKYWATCH - FAREWELL to the SUNS OF WINTER (Lake Erie)

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that we have seen the last of the really frigid days. A friend told me yesterday that warmer temps, maybe even into the 50sF, or double digits Celsius, are coming our way soon. Already big cracks are appearing in the ice along the shore, and ribbons of open water appear during the day, even if the still freeze over at night. So here is my tribute to the beautiful sunsets of winter over the frozen lake.

Lovely, lovely pictures. We're in the 80's already. Going to be a hot summer. Our "summer lite" (your winter) is over. *sigh*

These pictures are truly beautiful.
I hope you're right, saying farewell to frigid temperatures. This morning started out at 16 degrees here.

Breathtaking. Our shots are so similar this week. The lake, frozen or not, sure does generate and amazing sunset.

The lake just shimmers with the sun's glow in that last one. All of these are so lovely. Here's to warmer days...

Beautiful shots. It still looks mighty cold. It near 40 here today after 5 degrees on Monday and 15 on Tuesday. But the trees are getting those little knobs and there are snowless splotches here and there. I just can't wait for flowers and leaves.

Just wonderful, all four, but the first one is filled with such gentle magic that it surpasses the others.

I hope you're right! I think we've seen the last of the big snow blasts too! (I hope so cuz my snowplow guy is going on vacation this week - lol!) Beautiful sky photos - you just have the most fabulous views!

Lovely colors and light, Deborah. And yes, I think spring may be approaching a bit closer - the snow is almost gone and I'm seeing many more birds, rabbits, and squirrels. And there's open water here and there as well. Life is sunny, warm, and good.

The Great Lakes are so beautiful and the sunsets each day are unique. I hope you are not tempting fate with your predictions of spring!! We had 60 cm of snow the week of March 9th last year.

Beautifully done, it must be amazing to watch the seasons of the lake. I would love to be there to see the ice breaking up. Happy SWF!

They are all beautiful but I love the pastel colors in the first and that last one is incredible the way the reflections are on top of the waves. Gorgeous!

I love the sky... what can I say. There must be books out there about the sky... and you would know some titles.

Hi Deborah!! for a long time I couldn't cmment on your blog and now------I can. LOL

Love the sunset and the idea of saying farewell to the winter. We did have a touch of snow yesterday and more is in the forecast but it goes away in a day. We are not frozen as where you are. MB
