AN AFTERNOON of FIRSTS

Today was the first time this year that...

... a grackle perched on the Buddha's head. He (the Buddha) doesn't look like he minds (and that white on his shoulder is just a reflection!

...there was a cigarette boat (or, as I call them, a "James Bond boat") ripping across the lake!

...I saw a returning songbird. I heard a Flicker the other day, but this Hermit Thrush was the first new arrival I saw!

...it was warm enough to move the cactus garden from the bedroom to the porch, because it won't be too cold to leave it there at night. It seemed odd at first to have the Buddha sleeping so close to prickly cactus, but they are the only plants my cats won't chew on. And he (the Buddha) doesn't look like he minds that either.

Oh, I love your cactus garden with the reclining Buddha.

Looks like there's a lineup for the prime real estate of the other Buddha's head. Ha ha.

you certainly are surrounded by buddhas.

I think the Buddha would enjoy the cactus garden. He looks quite content with it.

hehe, definitely The Buddha doesn't mind many things...we have so much to learn from him!

My instant thought was "a buddha in a cactus garden", but then I read the comment about kitties and nibbling. Makes perfect sense.

It looks as though Buddha is contemplating the cactus, to me and he does seem to have plenty of company! Love it!

Your buddha almost always makes me chuckle to myself...just remembering the first times I noticed him. It was a winter shot and I thought it was someone standing out alone, and they looked so lonesome.

The Hermit Thrush is a nice find. I have never seen one out in the open before. I like the Buddha and the cactus!

Buddha knows how to live a life of serenity.
I would think having Buddha living in my yard would certainly be a good reminder to let unimportant things stay unimportant. What a great calming influence he is.

I'm generally pretty calm and hard to offend or disturb anyway... but whenI do let something bother me...
I really get worked up in a lather.

Spring, Spring... it's almost heeere... the Cloud Messenger is taking her plants outside.

The Buddha seems very agreeable to being placed closer to the outside! You do have great weather too, I see. We are headed to the lake today and try out the new canoe. I'll look for a rock for you...

Buddha is the perfect compliment to your surroundings. I love how he "goes with the flow!"

So, you have your own personal desert up there in the north! I can't keep house plants for the same reason you can't. Bonnie will eat them all! I have one ivy growing in a pot up on a candle sconce on the wall where she can't reach it! Ha! Glad your birds are returning!
