APRIL 1 - MY DAY…SO FAR

Bad News: One of my very fave TV shows, Life, is in grave danger of being cancelled, mainly due to lack of promotion by NBC. If you don’t know Life, it’s the story of an L.A. cop who does 12 years in prison for a triple murder he didn’t commit and was framed for. In prison, he takes up Zen, in order to mentally survive. When he’s finally exonerated, he gets his job back - and the episodes revolve around his quirky Zen approach to solving crime, often driving his fellow cops and the precinct Captain nuts. It’s a great show (with a terrific cast) that’s head and shoulders above all the other crime and CSI shows, which have been devolving into yuck fests, trying to outdo each other with gory special effects and bizarre violent deaths. So, here’s how you can help turn this into Good News! Go to this website for the Kansas City Star and vote for Life!!

Good News, maybe: It’s still too soon to tell about the nasty Internet worm. I turned my computer on as cautiously as possible this morning. Okay, so there’s no way push a button that’s any different one way or another, but you know what I mean. Is this worm another Y2K? Or the computer equivalent of a direct asteroid hit? I don’t know and, frankly Scarlet, without my morning joe…

Bad News: I parked my vehicle next to a car that was riddled with bullet holes. Made me very nervous…

Good News: The bullet holes turned out to be fake decals. No, I did not try, like Thomas the Apostle, to examine them physically. I saw that one of them was starting to peel away. But they looked very real. How do I know that – that they looked real? By watching Life, of course. And I was relieved that I hadn’t parked next to a guy that someone shot at. The question remains, who would put bullet hole decals on their car?

More Good News: The turkey vultures are back full force now. Did you know that there is a support group for them? If you love turkey vultures like I love turkey vultures, then have I got a website for you! http://vulturesociety.homestead.com

And one last bit of Good News: I saw a bright yellow male goldfinch yesterday. Full mating plumage! Be still my heart!

Well, I think I will wrap this up on all these good news notes, and go make that coffee. Hope your day is shaping up nicely, too.

I tried to vote (had a great little title too - "Life Must Go On!", but without signing up (which I did, God help me), but even then, I must wait until I get that all-important confirmation e-mail. I'll try later.

What's his character's name, just so I can say?

@Kat - thanks, kiddo, I didn't have to sign up for anything, the link should take you to a list of TV show titles, and you just click on Life. Anyway, the main character is Charlie Crews (Damien Lewis, from Band of Brothers).

This was a fun read. You seem to be feeling frisky this morning.

Turkey vultures? Are you kidding me? I guess it's something that hasn't been running through my mind much... well, at all, really.

Fake bullet holes seem to be popular with the jeep, macho truck types... but a sedan?....hmmmm

Anyway, thanks for the smiles you delivered this morning.

Oh, you do have a funny post today and before the morning coffee!!! Wow! Now that's what I call talent and dedication to enlightenment! Of course, I can't watch the show but I can surely vote for it!

"Have I told you, lately, that I love you?"

Thanks very much for supporting Life! Woman: you rule!

Sorry about your show, Deb... We'd probably enjoy that show also---but NBC put it on opposite one we already watch, Criminal Minds. Seems like that happens alot.

NBC's shows (except for the Law and Orders) haven't done well the past few years. I don't think they promote them enough.. CBS does a much better job with its dramas I think.

Have a wonderful day.. Glad your turkey vultures are back!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Ah, I see the problem. "Life" does in fact look like a show that I would enjoy, but it is on opposite "LOST" and in my family we are LOST addicts -- we watch the first run, we watch the enhanced re-runs, we go on line and watch the episodes again, and again, and then we buy the DVD's and watch all over again.

I voted.

I do enjoy turkey vultures.

A goldfinch! Wow!

Some people have weird choices. Fake bullet holes?

This was a very delightful read and a few good smiles tho' I've never heard of that TV series... we're still trying to catch up with Battlestar Galactica.

Deborah, what a day! Glad the birds are coming back and bringing spring on their wings! I agree with you about the gore ridden crime shows. I have quit watching some of my favs because of that. "Bones" used to be one we watched every week, but this year the writing got really stupid so we stopped. I have not seen the show you mentioned but it does sound good. I always appreciate good writing and a good plot!

I am definitely happy to know about the turkey vulture support group. I love those strange feathered dudes.

Our local news told us to try going to an internet security site, such as McAfee or Norton--I did not understand if they meant the one used on the particular computer...but if you had the worm, it would not let you go to the internet security. I tried Norton, McAfee, and what i use on my own--Trend in one case and Avast in the other.

Hi Deborah, found you from the
Kitchen Window Birder. Wanted
to let you know my guides say
the Mandarin ducks found in the
wild in N.A. are escapes from
zoos and private collections.
No feral populations are known
as far I know. Also, thank you
for the heads up on one of my
favorite TV shows, Life. Went
to that site and voted! Since
watching the entire Band of
Brothers, Damien Lewis has become
one of my favorite actors. I
just hope this refreshing new
kind of detective show will
hang on for a long time.
Enjoyed your blog.
