EARTH DAY 2009

How strange and wonderful is our home, our earth,
With its swirling vaporous atmosphere,
Its flowing and frozen climbing creatures,
The croaking things with wings that hang on rocks
And soar through fog, the furry grass, the scaly seas…
How utterly rich and wild…
Yet some among us have the nerve,
The insolence, the brass, the gall to whine
About the limitations of our earthbound fate
And yearn for some more perfect world beyond the sky.
We are none of us good enough
For the world we have.

This is a wonderful earth day tribute, Deb. I have the deepest respect for Mr. Abbey and this is one of his thoughts reminding me a little of Carl Sagan's little mini-sermons regarding human arrogance. I am going to watch the video now.

Happy Earth Day/Week for you too, Deb. Hope you had a great week/weekend.

We are glad to be home.. It was a wonderful trip --just getting to see my son and family. BUT--the weather was horrible. Oh Well!!!!

I'm going to check through some of your older blog posts.
Hugs,
Betsy

Oh, may we learn to be good enough, to see ourselves as part of nature and not owners of it.
