SQUIRREL DU SOLEIL

The past weekend we attended an open-air performance of Squirrel du Soleil – a thrill-a-minute circus performed by a remarkable troupe acrobatic furry critters, adept at stunts, tumbling and aerial feats that left the crowd gasping and cheering!

Watch this fellow as he races around the yard a breakneck speed!

This one climbed to dizzying heights...but then got stage-fright!

And this young lady hung from the toes – er, make that her hind toes – and dazzled us with her seed-swiping technique. She brought the crowd to its feet!

“The snack bar is always open”

A large family of red-breasted mergansers watched from the cheap seats.

Then it started to snow, and everybody took off, but it was fun while it lasted!

Ha ha! Great recounting of your entertaining show. When we first moved to our house, there appeared to be two parties of squirrels - the greys and the blacks. It wasn't long before we had christened the greys, "The Wallendas" and the Blacks, "The Jacksons" (as in J-5)!

No such thing as a squirrel-proof feeder, eh?

Ah, how fun to watch those little buggers! They are so clever and quick! Can't believe you had snow -- again! It's beautiful here today, well, for one more day then the rain returns. The blue skies have been beautiful though and the lilacs are ready to burst out!

Thanks for the morning giggles!

Aren't you glad we don't have to go through such contortions to get to our food?

Squirrels squirrels everywhere!!!!! We have gray squirrels here--but they don't seem to come on our deck or mess with our feeders, at least not YET. We had a huge mast crop last fall--so that keeps the squirrels busy I guess.

However, we have chipmunks which drive us crazy--trying to get to the feeders (and to the deck below)... They are cute--but such pests.

Hugs,
Betsy

Isn't it amazing how how they can hang from their feet! Your squirrels are particularly talented!

I can't believe I missed this !!!!, I've been oudoors most of the week. I love the way they race around and change direction at the last possible second then leap --true acrobats.

and it's a reminder to make some teensy peanut better sandwiches for my little performers.
