SKYWATCH FRIDAY – Ice Cream Colors (Lake Erie)

Would you like some Raspberry-Mango Ripple or maybe some Tiger Tail?

The yesterday was the hottest day of the season in the greater Windsor/Detroit area. In fact, I think there was a heat-humidity-smog warning in the Motor City, and probably in the Rose City, too. This morning, along the “cooler” lakeshore, it’s already 28C/82F on the shore of the lake, with a humidity index that “feels like” 36C/97F. It’ll be even hotter in the afternoon. In my previous post, I mentioned I was saving the AC for the truly hot days, and I think this one qualifies. The sunsets have been cooperating by giving us some pretty ice cream colors. Now, if they’d just bring the cool with it!

Raspberry Mango Ripple sounds great to me---both in ice cream and sunsets. I'm surprised that it is THAT hot up there. It's hot here too but not that hot. SO--I guess I'd better quit my complaining... ha

I don't have a laptop either---so am tied to my 'tower' also....

Have a great day and stay COOL.
Hugs,
Betsy

Great captures, Deborah, wonderful colors! Wish I could send you some of our cooler weather and that you could warm ours up a bit! Guess it's always something -- too hot or too cool! Have a great weekend!

Mmmm - I'll have a scoop of raspberry mango ripple please. what beautiful skies. Sorry the heat has you down. I think we are soon to feel it here. I know it's more humid.

I hate to tell you this, but I had the heat on last night. Not that I am complaining. Today is a bit muggy, and I would not be surprised if we get a storm later.

Love those sky shots, especially that slanty shadow on the bottom shot.

Serves you right for sending all that cold weather down our way this past winter.. Love your description... amazing raspberry mango coloring and the crepuscular rays in the second are phenomenal!

Both of these are beautiful images!
I'd love sitting there with a bowl of ice cream watching the color go down.
Love the calm serenity of the second shot.

Today was even worse for heat and humidity, when I had to hike across campus and back. On the other hand, hot and thirsty was a great excuse for an icy-cold fruit smoothie which was much the same color as your sky.

Such beautiful sunsets and colours and boy can I feel your pain or heat. Before moving to Haida Gwaii I lived in London Ontario and oh how I hated the summers...a terrible thing to say but between the bad air, humidity and tornado warnings. The day I left London, Aug 8, 1999 the temperature was 39*C under a maple tree in Victoria Park!! Your photos are wonderful and try to stay cool. Thanks for sharing.

Love the first photo - and I, too, have been thinking of ice cream in this sudden heat we got this week.

Fantastic ice cream colors. I prefer the sky colors to the food colored variety. I hope you can get some cooler weather soon. It was 53 here this morning. Back to the sweaters.
