SKYWATCH FRIDAY – Evening Unfurls Its Banner (Lake Erie)

In the deepening dusk, only the highest clouds still catch the setting sunlight, as if saluting the going down of day, and heralding the coming night.

Music option: How long has it been since you’ve listened to “Nights in White Satin”? Do you remember what it was like the first time you heard Justin Hayward’s beautiful, soaring voice, surrounded by the London Festival Orchestra? And how blown away you were by Mike Pinder’s gentle spoken ‘lament’ near the end? If you have a few minutes to spare, here’s a LINK. No distracting video, no live footage, just celestial music. If you’ve never heard it before, this might be the time you’ll remember. Either way, why not treat yourself?

To view more skies from all around our beautiful planet, or to join in, visit SKYWATCH. Live links after 2:30 p.m. EST time or 19:30 GMT

I love the way the first photo has trees that frame the shot.

Another great sky in your part of the world. It's funny you mention Nights in White Satin as I heard the song a few weeks ago for the first time in years. Definitely one of the classics!

Those are all beautiful songs, and the soft quality in them goes so well with your sky shots.

Do you think the music of our teen eras gets imprinted in our brains? I still like it best.

The music is fantastic and one of my all time favorites and listened to it just a little while ago. This is so exquisite and other worldly! Gorgeous colors! Glad I got back from Texas in time to enjoy it!

Have a lovely weekend, Deborah!

Beautiful photos (just saw you over at Nature Loving Super Mama's) and saw that you have ties to the Upper Peninsula. That's where we're living, on the shores of Lake Superior now...

I can see the humidity carried in those clouds; I like the textures the best -- so dreamy.

Love Knights in White Satin! Love your skywatch photo with the pink puffy clouds training across the sky. Sail on silver ship over the waters. You've captured such lovely colors in this shot.
