SKYWATCH FRIDAY - October Skies (Lake Erie)

I haven’t kept track, but if feels like most of the days this month have been overcast and rainy. One day, the rain was drawn like a curtain across the Ohio horizon. On another, the afternoon grew damp, and the sun shone like a white giant over the lake. The sunsets, often the only moments of color, echo the autumn colors of the flaming maples and burning bush hedges.

Excerpt from Dylan Thomas’ “Poem in October”

A springful of larks in a rolling
Cloud and the roadside bushes brimming with whistling
Blackbirds and the sun of October
Summery
On the hill's shoulder,
Here were fond climates and sweet singers suddenly
Come in the morning where I wandered and listened
To the rain wringing
Wind blow cold
In the wood faraway under me.

I love how each photo has an amazing swatch of brilliant light in it
as though it were a theme connecting each of them

It actually is referred to as a rain curtain. Truly a lovely set of shots and great poetry! Hope your skies stay brighter.

I have fallen in love with Lake Erie and it is all because of your own love affair with the smallest of the Great Lakes. I always so enjoy what you share with us.

The silhouette of the man? at the corner of the second photo is so intriguing. The lines of the body are so smooth and still as to seem almost like a statue.

Oh, the beauty of a rain cloud - if it misses you or after it is past. Great photos.

Beautiful skies there over Lkae Erie....I remember well when I lived in Ohio..fishing in Lake Erie and the delisous Perch I caught there...and how quick a storm could blow up and make it very rough going.

You've found the light! I mean, captured the evening glow in such a beautiful fashion. After gray days here the sunset is always a dance of color for us too.
