New Energy Needed, and Lawyers too!

I just received this in a new email from The Orion Project, and thought I'd pass it along.

New Energy Needed

In his Feb 24th speech, President Obama laid out the nation's top concerns for 2009, and high on that list was building a new energy economy in America. The President correctly sees that we need to transform our economy and that “it begins with energy”. He also said that “to truly transform our economy, protect our security and save our planet from the ravages of climate change, we need to ultimately make clean, renewable energy the profitable kind of energy”. We certainly agree!

Which Energy to Pursue?
However, developing existing advanced energy devices of the types TOP seeks was never mentioned in his speech-even though many of them could be developed in as little as a year. Solar and wind power were mentioned, but not power generation from hydroxyl gas, thermal exchange, pulsed motor generators, solid state electronic devices, electro-gravitics or zero point electromagnetic motors. Our leaders need to be thoughtful in choosing which new energy technologies will be funded and developed to replace fossil fuels. President Obama wants $10 Billion-a 16% increase- in National funding for basic energy research, in addition to the $5 Billion already in the Stimulus package. He has pledged to “put science at the top of our agenda”. He is creating money for important and much needed research. BUT-- if he is not aware of the promising types of technology TOP is seeking, it is vitally important that we let him know now before Billions are spent on less promising and more costly forms of energy.

Old energy hangs on.

We know that big oil and coal companies are already preparing to block real energy reform. They are well organized and they will oppose all new technologies that could make fossil fuels obsolete. We must find cleaner sustainable energy sources soon and get them into the public sector. That is why many grass roots organizations like TOP are urging citizens to speak out now and create pressure for positive change. We have open lines of communication to our government if we will use them. To get the most for our tax money and to insure a brighter future, we must point our elected officials in the right direction for spending these research funds.

Take a Step forward!

Please help us keep up the momentum for truly effective energy research by writing, calling, and faxing your representatives (use our free fax link). You can also tell your friends and co-workers about the TOP website, write letters to your local newspapers, call into your favorite radio stations, and participate in any other ways you can imagine. If you can donate, you can be certain your money will be used to further these important goals. Thank you for all you are doing to make a better world for everyone.

New Orion Project Position: Attorney

The Orion Project seeks an attorney with contract law experience. We are looking for that wonderful individual who can donate expertise, as all of us who work for The Orion Project do, to help achieve our goal of finding and bringing new safe, clean energy technologies to the world. Hence, the position is not salaried at this time.

IMPORTANT FOLLOW-UP TO PREVIOUS “NUCLEAR WINTER” POST

Not long after I put up the previous post on Nuclear Winter, the email below arrived in my inbox. As you may have noticed in my blog margin, I am a supporter of Dr. Steven Greer’s Orion Project, and his plan to develop and disseminate much-needed green energy technology. Dr. Greer has been working to raise the necessary 3 million (what a paltry sum that sounds like, now!) to develop prototypes, and present his green energy solutions to the world.

I’ve pasted the entire email here, but am also including a link you can click on (you can also click on the one in the margin) that will take you to the ORION PROJECT WEBSITE, where you can access the “click-ready” fax to send President Obama and Congress. I hope you are able to take time to check this out, and if you feel so moved, you might mention this project and include a link on your own blogs. We finally have a White House that backs science, understands the ramifications of global climate instability, and wants to act on putting green energy in place, so the time has never been better to act! Don't forget - si se puede!
Thanks, and Peace out-
Deb

Dear Friends and Supporters,

With a new Administration in Washington that has pledged transparency and a new energy economy, it is time for each of us to make our voices heard. Please take the time to send President Obama and your Senators and representative in Congress a fax letter expressing your desire to see the end of secrecy and full disclosure on new energy solutions. A new energy briefing is available on our website. You can also print out this Briefing and give it directly to your member of Congress when they are in your home office.

We believe that President Obama and many members of Congress are receptive to the idea of change and Disclosure. I have been specifically told by Washington insiders that they need to urgently hear from YOU the people to make this happen. Right now, billions of dollars are going into old-thinking energy solutions while the new energy solutions that have been suppressed or ignored for nearly 100 years languish. We must refocus the debate away from old solutions like clean coal and bio-fuels and towards genuine new energy solutions like zero point energy and other advances in energy generation.

We have set up a free fax system that permits you to send the letter as it exists or modify it to your own words, and fax it directly to the President and Congress. Please do this immediately and ask that all those on your email list, family, friends and colleagues do the same.

It is time for decisive action and we need to all pull together at this time in history to make REAL change happen!

Thank you for your help and support!

THIS JUST IN - An Update from The Orion Project

To my fellow bloggers - I just received this email update from Dr. Greer, and have copy/pasted it here for you, since it's so important and timely. As I've said before, I believe this is the most critical issue we are dealing with right now. Whatever happens with any one nation's economic system, or with the global economic system, is meaningless if we crash the planet's ecological system. They say we need to act within days to avert financial meltdown, but time is also running down for the planet. No closing bells will ring, nothing will mark the crossing point between still having time to save ourselves, and not being able to avert total climate meltdown. There are many ways to help, spread the word, do a post, put up a link, donate money, volunteer, or simply help hold onto the vision. Act at whatever level you are comfortable with, the level at which you say, "I will do no less than this." And remember, everything helps.

Redefining Alternative Energy
With over $100 billion going into alternative energy investments this year, it is time to pause and ask: What is real alternative energy?

So far, the discussion is mainly focused on Solar, Wind and Biofuels. Biofuels are really one step forward and two steps back.

Solar and Wind show promise but are very costly, especially to the average homeowner. And our creaky electric grid is not configured to even carry large scale solar and wind generation.

Totally ignored in the main stream (and even alternative) media is the area of advanced electromagnetic systems that tap the energy of the endless Zero Point energy field that is teeming all around us.

For decades, inventors and scientists have made advances in this area, only to be ridiculed, ignored- or actively suppressed.

I was recently contacted by a close friend of a senior member of Congress who described working for the US Department of Energy and being ushered into a large facility where dozens of such new energy devices were being secretly stored, and kept away from the public. This is a mainstream figure who knows that we can do better- and must!

Thomas Friedman of the New York Times has recently called for a Revolution in Energy. We at TheOrionProject.org agree. It is time for a genuine revolution in energy that completely replaces the collapsing centralized energy system.

It is time for inexpensive, abundant energy based on advanced concepts in physics and electromagnetic technology to be supported with at least the same level of funding that solar and wind are now receiving.

Solar and Wind are great- but with one to two dirty coal-fired power plants being put on-line in China and India each week, it is too little, too late.

Help TheOrionProject.org bring forward the real Alternative Energy solutions that will free humanity from oil, gas, coal and a bankrupt centralized energy and economic system.

It is time for real change!

TOWARDS SOLVING THE ENERGY CRISIS

About a week or so ago, I put a badge up at the top right of this blog for Avaaz.org, an email list I belong to. Avaaz is an international non-profit action group that monitors global environmental and political issues. One of the best things they do is create handy one-click petitions for people on their email list to send to their respective governments regarding helping our fellow citizens of the world in places like Africa, Tibet, Burma, China. The most recent email I got from them had to do with emergency environmental petition to help stop global warming from wiping out some of the small island nations, particularly in the Pacific. If you haven’t heard the term “eco-refugees” yet, you may soon be hearing it all too often. Anyway, as I’ve been watching the US elections, I strikes me that the debate of drilling for oil off-shore and in environmentally sensitive (aren’t they all?!) areas like the Arctic is really not what we should be talking about. Most of these proposed drilling sites would not produce oil for anywhere from 7-12 years. If we aren’t off of fossil fuels completely in something very close to that same time frame, then it won’t matter who won an election, or who drilled where. It’s my admittedly non-professional opinion that it may very well be too late already for the island peoples – and parts of other low-lying areas in the world as well. What we need to do now is work fast to avoid going past the point of no return that will send our only home on its way towards a total runaway greenhouse effect. That’s what some scientists think may have happened on Venus. It might look bright and beautiful from your backyard at dusk, but up close, Venus ain’t so cool – literally.

I’m also a contributing member to The Orion Project. I encourage you to check it out, and if you feel so inclined, post the link on your own blogs and email it to friends to help spread the word. And donate. There are quite a few energy systems that can produce cheap, even free, non-polluting energy, but there are vested interests that don’t want these technologies made public. A couple of decades ago I heard an environmental scientist say in an interview, “We won’t have solar power until some company figures out how to run a sunbeam through a meter!” That’s the attitude inventors of clean energy sources have been up against. The short video on the Orion website will fill you in on that. In light of the sudden breaking up of a 4,500-year-old Arctic ice shelf that’s just been reported by CNN and other media, the Orion Project is even more urgent.

Recently, we in North America have been seeing ads on TV by T. Boone Pickens, the billionaire oilman who is now advocating alternate energy sources. While he’s being lauded by some for his forward thinking, I must say, I’ve been suspicious right from the start. What’s the catch, I asked him from my living room. You’ve made your oil money, and now that oil is running out, you want to switch to wind and other alternatives? What’s in it for you? Have you suddenly developed a concern for the earth seven generations from now? After his first few wind power commercials, now Pickens is connected to domestic Compressed Natural Gas, or CNG. And now it’s starting to look like wind power is just the mid-stage between getting off foreign oil and onto CNG. In another new commercial, another voice is chiming in. This fellow is Aubrey McClendon, the CEO of a big CNG producer, Chesapeake Energy, and he’s “getting behind” T. Boone’s energy plan. Unlike a sunbeam, I bet you can run CNG through a meter, or the equivalent. Free energy, on the other hand, is free. The problem isn’t that CNG isn’t eco-friendly – it’s better than oil. It’s also cheaper than oil. But it will require significant changes to infrastructure, etc. and a lot of these could end up being prohibitively expensive in an already cash-strapped and in-debt economy, because it takes a lot of expensive fossil fuel energy just to retool, and put the new infrastructure in place. That’s been the reason that a lot of green solutions we haven’t been initiated already – too costly. With free energy, there are no excuses. If you have to change the infrastructure anyway for CNG, why not change it to use the best possible replacement? Why not? Because the Big Bucks guys don’t want to be cut out, that’s why. If you can get all your energy needs met by a small, easily affordable “little black box” in your own home, you won’t need a T. Boone or a McClendon. However, if we go down this road, then we won’t have learned a thing. We will be the generation that could have done something, could have stopped something, and instead we let our beautiful planet slip away. The Seventh Generation (if there even is one) will curse our names. As for the immediate future, I’m not getting behind more drilling or CNG. I’m getting behind the Orion Project.
