GOLD (OSI)

autumn cottonwoods
squandering their golden coins
on each passing breeze

As you can see, I have my computer back, complete with a brand new hard drive. There are still some things to work out, including locating a crucial missing file - a book manuscript that was due for publication next year, and represents 2 years work. Here's hoping it's on my backup hard drive; I don't even want to think about the alternative... At least the blog portion of things is working, so I can get back to posting here, and visiting all the blogs I enjoy - I missed you guys, and thanks for all those encouraging comments!

And we missed you! I hope you find your manuscript, hope you find everything on your backup. It's scary isn't it, how tied a lot of are to our computers. I have two manuscripts on mine right now -- I have eight altogether, but that's my hobby and there aren't any publishers out there drooling over the thought of getting to publish any of them. Still, I'd hate to lose them. Have a great Sunday!

I love the poem, it is complete in itself and builds a vivid mental image - the photo is just icing!

A great haiku.
Hope you get that file back. It would be a real tragedy to lose so much work.
I'm afraid I'm a bit neurotic about these things. I back-up everything on memory sticks, and even print off a hard copy.
Really important stuff, I even email to myself, so I have another back-up in my mailbox.

I pray you find your manuscript, avoiding an horrendous nightmare.

I do like your cottonwood coins! We don't have that tree species in my area but I remember seeing them in the Red Deer River Valley many years ago while looking for fossils in some coulees around Three Hills.

Happy Thanksgiving and welcome back.

I too, pray you get your file back. It would be terrible to lose so much.

I'll be praying that you're able to get all your files retrieved!!

Trees squandering golden coins is a beautiful vision. Are Cottonwood leaves shaped so?

I'll be praying to St. Anthony for whats lost to be found.

..with the binding quality of what is called a 'hook line' or 'punch line'-ur soft delicate poem gets through-seeps in..many thanks..
(praying for what's lost to be found)

Dang, that's fine poetry! Next to the aspens, the cottonwoods are the finest autumn 'coins' around!

Thanks--lovely!

By the way--when you come by my site, for some reason I can never open the permalin URL back to yours. Is the URL correct? There's a 'http:' already in the box--maybe you are putting another one in there with your copy and paste? Anyway, want people to be able to link back to you!

Thanks for stopping by and your comments--I look forward to them each week!

Someday we'll all be "cloud computing" ... and all our worries will be solved (or maybe that's where our real worries begin). Anyhow, you right: computers are too archane and too unpredictable considering how essential they have become. Here's to hopping you find that file: Save the old hard disk because you could also send that off to have it recovered from a professional service.

I'm glad you're back, and I hope you find that file.

I loved this poem. I know what it's like to behave like those cottonwoods!

God bless, friend.

There is something about that photo that I love.
We don't have cottonwood trees here, but I remember them from my childhood in Oklahoma. Good poem.

Best of luck finding your manuscript.

The word "squandering" is so dramatic!

I love the word gold for the seasons! It can be a feature for Autumn and Spring!

Lovely poem!

Thank you all for your comments, and your well-wishes for the recovery of my manuscript. I appreciate them very much, and will let you know the outcome - although if I recover it, you'll probably hear me shout for joy no matter where in the world you are!

"squandering their golden coins" is wonderful! I can almost smell the ancient trees in Glacier Park through these words.

You came back in fine form - this is a lovely, lovely haiku and photo. Hoping you find your book.

Hi Debra, I'm glad you are up and running again. I hope your manuscript will be rescued. Things like this are terrible.

Your poem right away sent me back to Nebraska to be near the Missouri River and its magnificant cottonwoods. That was without the picture which was 'up there.'

You might know we don't have cottonwood trees here but there are a lot a few miles to the west along the Brazos River. But I didn't go there first, it was to the Missouri.

First, let me say that is a wonderful haiku. The thought of them squandering is so fabulous.

Second, here's hoping it is on your backup hard drive. I'll listen carefully for that shout of joy.
