...i am outside
sitting vajrasana
beneath the gold umbrella
of the August sun
welcoming the breeze that rolls
the cottonwood leaves over
like the sound of distant waves
that makes the wind-chimes dance
and brings the gentle scent
of wild sweetclover
here to where...

The imagery is delicious, and the welcoming heart makes all the possibilities rich!
The serenity is everything, wish I was able to write as well as you do. Thanks for a lovely Sunday moment!
Just excellent Deborah. I felt the breeze on my face and the fragrance wafting in the air. Bravo! Great take on this prompt.

I was actually there and could picture it. How I miss is right about now. Very nice.
Oh, so beautiful.
Your poem is so vivid - I feel the sun, and hear the leaves rolling in the wind, and suddenly it is August again on this gray November day.
Beautiful and visual. I felt I was there.
when i get an extra minute, i will have to check our one single impression looks lovely...the photo reminds me of the high mountains in utah in fall. i miss the mountains as we have driven all day through the flat lands of western texas.
I had to look up the word, 'vajrasana', but after doing so I had this image in my head...
stretched backwards
reaching inward
to stir thoughts
stimulated outwards
loved the chimes and the breeze
This is as though you are embracing life and welcoming the moment... I can smell the summer scents.
Deborah, I could not sit varjransa. It does look comfortable for most but I have a semi-healed broken kneecap.

I do believe that warm sunshine in the fall always welcomes, a good choice you made.
Thank you for your encouraging comment for my 'poem,' I need and appreciate those.
..
You took me right there. A painting in poetry. Lovely.
this is so beautifully soothing...
you really feel the air and sun when you read it and smells of summer...
What an image! Doesn't get any better than that scene sounds. Your inner peace came through in your words.
Oh my, Deborah, you have a way with words!
Superb work and photo... 'the gold umbrella of the August sun' is a particularly delightful phrase.
I was not familiar with the meaning of vajrasana. Discovered that it is the Diamond pose, a meditative posture. The Sanskrit word Vajra refers to a diamond or a thunderbolt. The word Vajra if it is separated, va means to move and ra means radiant. So the word conjures for me travelling while still.
"welcoming the breeze that rolls
the cottonwood leaves over
like the sound of distant waves"
the cadence itself is rolling
you are inside yet outside, in a subtle energized state, going from here to unknown with an open heart
beautiful!!!
I adore "the breeze that rolls the cottonwood leaves over like the sound of distant waves." I can feel it, even in the cold of winter coming.
I love the images you evoke as 'the breeze rolls/the cottonwood leaves over'. Exquisite.
Vajrasana there? Must be an awesome feeling.
.."the fool on the hill--see the world spinning round" _(the beatles)[without reason i think of it as a backdrop to ur poem]
~'spirituality'-what exactly is it?_aren't the birds & the bees spiritual_
.."here to where"--a simple question, yet in the light of ur lovely poem-in celebration of spirituality-
so 'searching'..many thanks..
_"like the sound of distant waves
that makes the wind-chimes dance"..
Wonderful Zen welcome. It's the perfect pose to absorb the sun, swirl, sounds, and smell of the moment!
I wish I were there right now. Lovely!
