Its pretty cool to see how even though the photo has a certain color tone, there seems to be a million different color gradations of the same colour bringing depth and beauty into a world of winter.
Oh, that is awesome! No doubt about the cold! I can feel it from here. It's cold here, but needless to say, nothing like that! Great photos, as always. Thanks!
THANKS TO ALL for your comments. Just to add a bit more info, those are small ice floes, probably the biggest has the surface area of a couple of cookie sheets.
The Cloud Messenger (Meghadūta) is a lyric poem by the respected Indian poet, Kālidāsa. The poem centers around a yaksa in exile. Longing for his beloved, waiting for him on a Himalayan mountain, he asks a cloud to take a message to her. The sights he tells the cloud it will see on its way make up most of the poem.
The idea of recording observations appeals to me. I thought The Cloud Messenger was the perfect title for a blog about the journey that we all make as we move through our days.
I'm a baby boomer who grew up dancing in the streets of Detroit during the classic Motown years, lived beside the Rocky Mountains for many years, now retired and living (and writing full time) in S. Ontario. I have one blog for rock 'n' roll oldies, and one for nature, poetry and life along the Lake.

Beautiful photo of the lake. We thank Lake Erie for our lake effect snow..

although I love my mountains, I really miss the water -- having grown up on the San Francisco penninsula with both a bay and an ocean to choose from.
Wow! What an amazing photo.
All I can say is Wow! What a picture!
This looks like one of those mid-50's paintings of a lake my folks used to have. Those clouds are actually very poetic.
Are they big ships on the frozen harbor? At first glance it looks that way. The photograph is difficult to scale. Very well done.
