SKYWATCH FRIDAY – Jonquil Sky (Lake Erie)

Spring may be a long way away for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, but the setting sun has painted the cloudless sky and the frozen lake with delicate colors of the longed-for season.

I like your title, Deb... We have Jonquils in the spring --that bright yellow color!!! Some people call them Daffodils and some call them Narcissus---but to me they are Jonquils. Your post reminded me that spring will be here soon.
Happy 2009.
Hugs,
Betsy

I love your title, too, and the photo is just gorgeous, from the yellow sky to the pink ice! Exquisite! A very Happy New Year to you, my friend, thanks for your kind comments, your support -- those are the things that have made the last year great and I know I'll find the same in the New Year!

The soft inviting hint of colour from the sun at this time of year fills me with optimism and now that we have met and passed the winter solstice I have a sense of excitement at the end of each day with the knowledge that each day is just a little bit longer...and even more so now with that extra second granted with the new year...

May it be a peaceful one for all.

Looks like rough water, but what a lovely sky! I guess it takes both, doesn't it?

Oh Deborah, I do love that sky! I am running late, but better late than never I guess. Hope you have a Happy New Year.

Hope that lake thaws out soon, though it does make for a lovely picture. Happy New Year.

Deborah: What a neat look at the skies over Lake Erie. It won't be long and the ice will stop any waves.

Lovely sky but even better the way the pack ice catches the light!

This is really such a subtle photo with the sky in her muted, many colored display. Brrr.

I live in Ohio and one of my cousins just wrote me a note that I need to drive up to Lake Erie to take photos of it's beauty right now. Your photo has convinced me of that! Absolutely beautiful capture.

We never get that color here, I wonder why? But I have a friend who lives on the lake in Youngstown, NY, who does. Is it a lake thing? Do you ever see frieghters go by?

It's bee-you-tee-ful! The ice cream colors in the water are as delicate and lovely as those of the sky.

Looks a might chilly, however.

One of the nice side effects of observing nature is the reminder that spring does always follow winter, again and again.

Happy new year, and thanks for joining us in skywatching once more.
