Someone should tell summer that it’s over. As the famous saying goes, “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” The temperatures around here would be quite nice—up in the 20s/70s—but the humidity index has been adding a good 5-6 degrees of extra (wilting) heat. And my house really holds onto the heat. On top of everything else, there hasn’t been a breath of wind. I’ve had enough *waving white flag* I’m ready for the mild early fall weather. Not too chilly, just something more livable. At least yesterday we had a brief break in the string of overcast days, with a few clouds decorating the welcome blue. I stood on the front lawn, pointed my camera straight up, and shot this through the canopy of my honey locust, and some of the neighbor’s ashes and elms. There was even a nice breeze tossing the branches, so there’s hope!

beautiful picture! I hope that humidity leaves you soon! I hated it when I visited SD. I thought temps in the 70s would be wonderful but I was dripping every day. low 90s in Tucson with no humidty was a welcome change when I got home.
We had it here too, yesterday. Today is supposed to be more comfortable. Your photo pretty, anyway.
Is it humid all the time on the lake?
Marvelous shot as always, Deborah! Love the soft, pretty clouds! I do hope the humidity goes away, that can be so miserable! We're enjoying some really lovely weather right now, lots of sun, not too many clouds and mild temps -- ideal! Not sure how long it will last though.
Have a great day!
Sylvia
I will take summer, even late! I was outside working yesterday and it was muggy!
What a beautiful shot !! The sky is lovely ..Great
I agree - I'm ready for fall. At least the white, wispy clouds have returned. Yours are very pretty.
But how pretty that sky is. We're still having summer too. They say it will get cool next week??
Lovely white clouds!
Humidity makes all the difference. Here in WV it isn't bad but my 30 years in Virginia were filled with high humidity. Hope you get some relief soon.
I too look forward to early fall days.
Carletta’s Captures.
Summer can breathe an amazing last bit of fire on us. We have the same experience here. I love your view.
We are having very hot weather for fall here in Idaho too. We need some cooler weather to get all the fall colors. I enjoy your blogs.
Love the fact that one of your labels was "whining." Hang on just a moment and you know that your weather will change. Here in sunny New Mexico we're having a chilly, gray, rainy day and thinking about (oh, no!!) turning on the heat...
Thank you for sharing this lovely summer shot.
Lovely picture!
I totally agree with you!! Great shot....
Gill
It must be way more humid for you by the lake than for us who are more inland. You sure caught a lovely sky!
Beautiful shot. I do not like the humdity either but I do not like winter even more.
Thanks for sharing your skywatch, hang in there the cool weather is coming.
Glad you got a reprieve. I just can't tolerate the high humidity. I may have grown up with it, but no more. The crispness of fall is in the air here at the canyon. Winter will soon be upon us.
Well--for us, Deb, it is the HEAT. It got up to 80 degrees here today, and about 91 in Hendersonville... YUK.. That's summer... What happened to Fall???? They say we'll cool down next week. I hope so... I complained about the rain and now about the heat. What's next??????? ha ha
Hugs,
Betsy
it's coming and quickly at least in northern utah where i'm visiting grandkids right now
lazy sky
I'd take that weather for a day, but just only for a day. Hope the weather turns around for you.
I would have to recommend against you ever moving down to tsouth Georgia. The humidity makes the air so thick, you can cut it with a knife. You step outside and immediately start to sweat. Beautiful break in the haze.
although we're hundreds of miles from you, that describes exactly what our last week or so has been like. Shirt sticking to me while walking the dog humid!
I don't really like the humidity either and last night it felt that way here -- can you imagine? Weird. I hope you get relief soon.
way to catch old sky with its pants down!
At least there's blue in the sky. That eases the annoyance of the humidity a bit.
On our side of the lake, it's not so humid, but the skies are gray a good part of the day.
we have been having near perfect weather, even if it has been raining. We needed it. I am hoping the humidity is gone for the most part, but am afraid we will be getting more of it.
I can see that those scudding clouds must be welcome when they mean a breeze to lift the humidity.
