Four of these images are paintings by American abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko (1903-1970). The fifth is a photo I took of Lake Erie on calm afternoon.
Upper right by Deborah Godin I presume? Nicely done! Very creative. Who knew you and Rothko had so much in common. Wait a minute, has he been hanging out at your lake!
wait a minute, did you paint the last one? i like two of Rothko's a lot, the pale blue and the one with the twilight pinkish hue --then i really like the lake erie painting too. these paintings are very restful to the eye. yet have depth and meaning.
The Cloud Messenger (Meghadūta) is a lyric poem by the respected Indian poet, Kālidāsa. The poem centers around a yaksa in exile. Longing for his beloved, waiting for him on a Himalayan mountain, he asks a cloud to take a message to her. The sights he tells the cloud it will see on its way make up most of the poem.
The idea of recording observations appeals to me. I thought The Cloud Messenger was the perfect title for a blog about the journey that we all make as we move through our days.
I'm a baby boomer who grew up dancing in the streets of Detroit during the classic Motown years, lived beside the Rocky Mountains for many years, now retired and living (and writing full time) in S. Ontario. I have one blog for rock 'n' roll oldies, and one for nature, poetry and life along the Lake.

they are very expressive, almost like a blurred photo.
Hi Deb, Beautiful. I don't know why--but I really like that first one (on the left)...
Hope you have had a good day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Loved them all!! They do look like blurred photos. Nice on the eyes after looking at numbers all day!
I prefer Lake Erie, by far. Never could warm up to the abstract.
Interesting paintings. Not a lot of detail, but they ooze with mood.
Beautiful comparison - I love the Erie one the best! :-)
